So, it’s been a whole year owning and driving an electric vehicle and here are some stats for you.
In the year (pre-COVID-19) I travelled circa 12,000 miles in the year with my previous BMW X3 with a consumption of 37MPG my fuel usage was 1,474 Litres and at a cost of 1.29 per litre, that’s £1,899 of fuel.
Since march of 2020, I have only done 6,000 miles due to COVID-19 Restrictions so my summary figures here will double as a comparison.
To travel 6000 miles, I used a total of 1414 kW of energy (7% of that was public charging, the remainder was home charging)
Home charging cost for 93% of my driving was £68.93 (for 1311 kW) and the public charging was £29.36 (102kw)
The total cost of energy (home and public) was £98 so if we double that to £196 for the additional/normal miles, that equates to a fuel cost saving of £1703 (£141 per month saving)
The big win is 100% home charging.!
