When we had our solar installed, it quietly got on with the job — producing clean energy, lowering our bills, and generally being the most well‑behaved bit of tech on the property. For a couple of years it just sat there, doing its thing, no fuss, no noise, no drama.
And then… we acquired some unwanted guests.
The Pigeon Problem Begins
Out of nowhere, a squadron of pigeons decided our roof was the new Premier Inn. They moved in under the panels, set up their little feathery flats, and made themselves very much at home.
The mornings became a symphony of flapping, cooing, scratching and general mischief. And as if the noise wasn’t enough, our once‑clean cars suddenly became… well… let’s just say the pigeons were extremely generous with their “gifts”.
Something had to be done.
Finding the Right Fix
After trawling the interwebs, I found a handful of companies offering pigeon‑proofing for solar panels. But then I stumbled across a guy on Facebook called Kai — or FaceAche, as we affectionately call it — who specialised in exactly this.
I’ll be honest, I was initially a bit wary. The last thing I wanted was someone drilling, clipping or bodging anything that could damage the panels or void warranties. But after a proper chinwag over Messenger and seeing some of his before‑and‑after photos, I felt confident enough to go ahead.
Enter Kai and His Crew
Fast‑forward a few days and the job’s done. Kai and his team turned up, got stuck in, and sorted the whole thing with zero fuss. The panels are now fully pigeon‑proofed, the roof is quiet again, and the cars are no longer being used as a public convenience.
Meanwhile, the pigeons are now wandering around the neighbourhood looking thoroughly unimpressed and in desperate need of a new place to roost — preferably not anywhere near us.
Peace Restored
So that’s the saga of how our peaceful solar setup briefly became a pigeon penthouse. Thankfully, it’s all sorted now, and we can go back to enjoying the benefits of solar without the early‑morning bird banter.
If you’re dealing with the same problem, I can highly recommend getting it sorted sooner rather than later. Your roof — and your car paintwork — will thank you.
